(A Japanese Who Doesn't Know Japanese) ^o^

Haruko: [Entered the maid cafe. Surprised when two maids greeted them.] Waa!
Maids: Welcome home, lady!
Haruko: What?! They're calling us "lady"! [happy Haruko lol]
Katori: They always call me that at home though.
Haruko: Eh?

はるこ:わあ!
メイド:お帰りなさいませ、お嬢様!
はるこ:えっ!うちらお嬢様だって!
かとり:家ではいつもそう呼ばれてますけど。
はるこ:え?

Haruko: Waa!
Meido: Okaerinasaimase, ojou-sama!
Haruko: Eh?! Uchira ojou-sama datte!
Katori: Ie de wa itsumo sou yobaretemasu kedo.
Haruko: Eh?

** Notes:
~mase - is added to increase the politeness of a greeting
ojou-sama - another's daughter; daughter of a high-class family
uchira - us
ie - house; home
yobareru - to be called (a name); to be referred to (as)
  • This conversation is informal; usually among friends. :)
  • I highly recommend this J-drama to anyone who is enthusiastic in learning Japanese!
  • Not only is it hilarious, but you really learn a lot of Nihongo and Japanese culture as well! :D
